beckett kol at 9 months

it's an exciting day folks! after a little gentle persuasion, i am very excited to present... a post from matt! here is a beckett kol nine month review from his dad. enjoy!

now that beckett is 9 months old, i’m going to be giving a little update on what and how he’s doing these days.

food:
b still gets most of his nourishment from cortney (which may or may not be causing her to fade away), but, he has added a few new things to his repertoire. he loves his new toddler mum-mums, because he’s advanced like that. we haven’t found a flavor of puff that he doesn’t enjoy. and most excitedly, like his dad, he is nuts for fresh fruit. his favorites are banana, peeled grapes and nectarine.

play:
beckett is a big-time player. he’s always going, always moving, and always getting in to things. he has a small basket of toys that he goes to occasionally. he has a handful of non-toy items that have made it in there: a wooden spoon, a silicon basting brush, a wii remote, and the lid to a pyrex measuring cup. lately, though, he mostly stands in the basket of toys to reach things on the end table. he also recently discovered the dogs’ toy bin, and he is much more interested in their toys than his own. we promptly gave all those toys a good washing, and now we don’t feel so guilty about letting him play with them.

milestones:
it’s crazy to look back at how much beckett has changed over the last three months. he is now a professional level crawler, which is stressful. he is always all over the place, trying to get in to things. we tried him out on the stairs, and he scaled up them like it was his job. when he decided to come back down was a different story. his usual method is to just throw himself down, and assume one of his parents will stop the tumbling. so far we’ve caught him every time. he is also great at pulling himself up on things. pretty much anything is a pull-up location for him. walls, furniture, legs, dangling towels (dish and bath), all fair-game. finally, he likes to wave. we used to have to coax it out of him, but occasionally when he sees people walking up he does it on instinct. he’ll probably be a politician some day with that charisma.

and the rest:
beckett is really starting to become a good buddy. we play together all the time. our favorite games are smashy face and tower attack.
smashy face consists of me blowing a raspberry on his cheek, and then him smashing his face in to mine as hard as he can. it usually leaves us both in hysterics.
tower attack is when beckett likes to pretend to be godzilla. he has an insatiable urge to knock down stacked things. no matter what he’s doing, if i get a stack of stuff (usually his blocks) over a foot tall he will scramble over as fast as he can to smash it back down.
