a carousel ride

while we were at the beach in santa monica, beckett tried his first ever carousel. he seemed pretty neutral about it... which is too bad because it's a good carousel. my dad and aunt lana used to ride it when they were little!

california... here we come!

actually, here we already went. after saige's birthday, saige drove back to washington with us and eeeeaaaarly monday morning saige, beckett, and i flew down to santa monica. matt couldn't miss that much work, but he came down wednesday night to spend a few days too! santa monica is so cute. it is also so exspensive, i could pass out. anyways, we had lots of fun spending time with oma and uncle jack. beckett finally was old enough to experience the magic that is oma's german cooking and he loved most things, of course. we got to see lots of family... papa, aunt brandie and uncle ray and cousin mason, tante lorle, my cousins heather and chayse, and uncle marc. and if i forgot anybody... i'm a jerk, sorry. we also went to the beach almost everyday, but the beach gets its own post because it is very special. even though sand is the grossest thing in the history of things.

headphones in... ready to fly!

saige is shy around mason...

aunt brandie brought b smencils and he pulled them in and out of their containers for hours. he doesn't even know they can write.

will saige's first baby be a boy? don't mess up our traditions... saige! please ignore how beckett looks like a psychopath in both photos below.

saige is twenty one!

it's the post you've all been waiting for! okay... saige has been waiting for it. on the 14th saige turned 21! are you shocked? it is quite shocking. she can now just cruise into a restaurant and order ten drinks and get plastered... no big deal. exciting, yes? for her birthday i road tripped down to eugene so i could be there the very moment she could legally start barhopping. i took margaret with me so i wouldn't have to feel old by myself and we picked up will so he could sit alone in saige's apartment since he is unfortunately not legal just yet. tear. saige is such a cradle robber.

in her first bar... drinking alone

no, she has friends...

saige with her water pusher!

i am really excited about this, so it appears

saige and some friend-os

this bar was the worst. 1. the bouncer told me he wanted to kidnap me. i don't know what that even means, but it was creepy and made margaret angry. 2. right after we got inside, we saw a girl sitting in a chair and she was suuuuuuper drunk and wearing a teeny tiny dress and it was really hiked up and her private parts were hanging out for the whole world to see! and i felt so sad about it. she has a mother, you know?! 3. margaret and i saw two people on the dance floor... having sex! gross. what is happening with young people today? i am officially traumatized.

freshman roomies

saige's friend ashely would just scream "21!" until the bartender would throw a drink at saige.

we went to check out the university for margaret to see the next day.

in the same spot... three years ago.

cuuuuute...

oh, marie calendars... you never let us down

happy 21st birthday to baby saige! lookin' good (after a night full of booze)
