not his gumdrop buttons!

we had our usual gingerbread house making party, which almost didn't happen because beckett was sicky! we just postponed it though and it worked out fine. this is good news because matt and i spent a hundred hours making homemade gingerbread. worth it because it was so delicious... so delicious. we had to cut down all the pieces once they came out of the oven, and i just ate all the gingerbread scraps in two seconds like a monster. here is really a lot of pictures, but i have to show them all because we have really cute kids. and one day these gingerbread houses might actually be made by them... not just 90 percent adult created.

john came over for dinner and to exchange christmas gifts and drop off his new cat... to be catsat for christmas. she lived in the basement with saige for a week, since matt and b are both pretty allergic to cats. this is sad news because they both really like cats, even though we all know cats can be little snooty pants. anyways... here are some pictures!

a nativity story

beckett's nativity play at preschool was adorable per the usual. i can barely contain myself wondering what part he will get next year when he is pre-k and gets to actually be part of the nativity story. this year, his class sang a few songs. 

oh these sweet little friends. we love having penelope at school with us.

some shepherds, some angels, and a pretty serious mary and joseph. i mean, it was a pretty serious situation for them.

here is something crazy... the little girls in bonnets are playing the part of hay. i just don't know about that, man. i think i would rather my kid be another farm animal, than you know... hay. there are also the wise men and the star pictured here. i don't know if b could handle the responsibility of joseph, but a wise man role would be pretty cute.
