beckett and i attended mackenzie's graduation party which just feels a little bit crazy town because how is she even old enough to be graduating? to be fair, she just turned into a senior three quarters of the way through her junior year, so it did come a bit early. lonnie threw her a lovely graduation party by the kirkland waterfront (where she may or may not have had her very own baby shower years earlier). we are so glad to have known mackenzie all these years and to have watched her grow up into a real life adult. which means i'm a hundred now. whatever. it's cool. "congradulons" kenzie, we are excited for you and what your future holds!
i tried to find a real oldie of mackenzie, but i'm on a new computer with not many of my old photos. i did find this goodie, circa 2008 from a christmas party and a failed gingerbread house attempt. haha. luckily i don't think mackenzie has any plans on becoming like a construction worker.

on a boat, on a boat
for my birthday, matt rented a boat for the day to go out on lake washington. picking a day to go boating in june is risky business, but it was perfect, warm boating weather. lucky us. mostly i wanted to go on a boat because i thought the boys would love it and i'm a selfless mother. ha. heath loved when the boat was moving fast and hated his life jacket and the cold water. beckett loved the whole boat experience and getting his first can of soda, but also hated the cold water. i on the other hand, am broken after having two children and the movement of the boat when we were just sitting idle made me feel a little sicky! you guys... sometimes swinging too much on swings starts to make me feel a little sicky these days. what in the world?! oh well, i digress. on the way back in, i was relaxing at the front of the boat and matt hit a huge wake from a yacht and a giant wave of water just dumped right on me. oh my gosh... it was shockingly cold water! everyone laughed and laughed. i didn't at the time, but it's funny looking back. i guess. in the end, it was a fun excursion, especially for the boys, and i would do it again. happy birthday to me!
do you like saige's dress? it flew off the back of the boat along with saige's towel. they belong to lake washington now.

last day of school
beckett finished up another successful year of preschool. he has learned so much fun, new stuff this year and officially knows all his letter sounds, can count to over one hundred, writes his name, and knows a lot of random things about a lot of random topics. don't get him started on nocturnal animals. we are so proud of beckett for being a hard worker and a sweet friend. we are ready for a fun, laid back summer and to hit the ground running this fall with our official pre-k kid!
flashback!
sadly, penelope was sick and missed the last day of school and the end of the year performance. we certainly missed her, but she'll be back next year in pre-k with us. phew! alright... let's go summer, let's go!

a surprise visit!
my oma has a june birthday (like me!) and saige and i decided to fly down and surprise her on her birthday. i had hoped to fly down last year for her bday... because it was her 85th, but i had a newbie new baby and was too scared, so 86th it was! i took heath with me because oma probably wouldn't have even let us in the front door if we had shown up with no grand baby and heath is still nursing, so we're an inseparable team right now. it was beckett's last week of school, so he stayed home with matt and got some one on one dad time. we flew in a day early and stayed with my tante lorle and uncle bill and showed up on my oma's doorstep on the morning of her birthday. we put heath in front of the door and she was so shocked! she could not even process what was happening. with lots of sneakiness and the help of my uncle jack, it was a totally successful surprise. go team! my oma got lots of heath snuggles and we also got to see my dad and take a trip to the beach. heath is not in love with the beach, but i can kind of see where he is coming from. beckett used to also hate the beach and sand, but now he is all about it, so i assume heath will come around too. anyway, it was a very quick little california visit, but nice to get down there and see some family and celebrate one of my favorite people. happy birthday, oma! 86 looks good on you!
oma's first selfie! also, what in the world, saige? how are your arms so long?
