a day of celebrating three

beckett's birthday fell on a tuesday this year, which meant it was a school day, which meant we had an early start. by early start i mean 8 am. i know to most people with a toddler that is not early, but we have been blessed with a boy who sleeps in. we almost always have to wake beckett up on school days and his birthday was no exception... but it's all good because that just means more hours to celebrate! woop.

we woke beckett up with a sprinkle doughnut and candle in bed. since we did this last year, it's now a tradition! he was disheveled at first, but then happy about his doughnut and blowing out the candle. he seemed much bigger this year... sitting up in his bed, instead of a crib like last year. little man.

we got ready and went to school. sadly, beckett's school does not allow any outside food... so no birthday treats at school. they do this because of allergies, and i feel like i can't complain because i have the allergy kid, but can i just anyway? i think parents are competent enough to handle an allergy list and avoid those foods. oh well. beckett got a special crown and sticker at school and got to choose a special birthday book out of the book bin. he picked a little critter book about sharing.

after school, beckett and i drove right into seattle to meet penelope and margaret at playdate SEA for some lunch and indoor playtime. penelope brought cupcakes to celebrate beckett's birthday. as you can tell, this was our healthiest eating day ever. playdate SEA has a giant indoor play structure. it is kind of like a fancy mcdonalds playplace. beckett liked it and it was pretty fun, except the slides were really big and steep and b was nervous to slide alone and i was not the most excited about hauling my prego butt up into the play structure to slide with him. next time we are bringing dad for sure. thanks for celebrating with us, margaret and penelope!

i was going to get trophy cupcakes for after dinner, but that seemed repetitive since we had them after lunch. beckett kept asking about his cake, and i told him, "if you want one so bad... bake one." so he did. okay, mostly i did, but he did some mixing. for dinner beckett requested chicken and rice. so exotic.

after dinner we made some phone calls and opened gifts. beckett got candyland (don't get me started on how much i HATE how candyland looks these days) and a cool jean jacket from aunt saige. she likes to keep him hip.

and last, but not least we measured beckett on the ruler! he is 3 feet and 2 inches. growing, growing, growing. he is a tall guy (which he obviously gets from me). and that was it! we sure do love this birthday boy a lot.
