clay's first haircut!

excuse me while i just pretend that clayton is my child for a moment and start documenting all his milestones on the blog. just kidding. only one milestone. whitney gave clay his first haircut while the bruners were up visiting and first haircuts are just a big deal. heath even hand fed him some blueberries during the process because we are nothing if not excellent hosts. the haircut went well (putting scissors right by the face of a tiny, wiggling, not understanding the situation person would stress me out, but whitney seems fine about it) and clay looked so handsome with his new cut. he l also looks three years older. haircuts! you're so sneaky. also! i just realized that i think whitney has given every boy cousin in our family their first haircut. now its a weird tradition we'll have to follow forever.

cousin clayton comes to town!

kate was up in washington for a bachelorette party and came a few days early with clay so we could have some fun cousin time. clay and heath are only two weeks apart in age (i'm sure you know that) and that is really a negligible amount at this point. except that clayton towers over heath and is significantly heavier! developmentally they are very similar though, and they are starting to actually adorably play together a little bit. beckett also loved having clay around. i thought he might feel a little left out being the solo big guy, but he just only had a thousand hugs to give out and thought the "babies" were so cute. i do LOVE seeing these cousins play together and i do HATE the distance between us. thanks for coming to visit guys... we loved having you!

these boys were quite the bathtub trouble makers. they thought throwing things out of the tub was the most funny and eventually clay just penguin belly slid himself right out of the tub. beckett had no interest in getting in this tub. he took a shower in the other bathroom because he is a teenager.

we took the boys to a beach park, which was a super fun idea in theory. in practice... it got complicated. you'll notice a lack of actual beach pictures. we survived and lesson learned. ha!

they eat together at the head of the table, of course!

clayton wakes up and has breakfast way before heath, so by the time heath was having breakfast... clayton just really needed heath to share with him. these pictures show the scenario play out pretty accurately. ohmygosh, these boys!

one final park trip before clay headed to olympia for some grandparent time. do you like our weird obsession with putting the boys in matching clothes? i do.

visiting with cousin clayton

the bruners came up to washington for the weekend, so we ventured down to zac's parents house for the day to hang out. zac's dad has been the world's busiest little bee doing so much yard renovation to get ready for a wedding this summer and it is looking great! beckett loved the chickens and driving the tractor with uncle zac-ie. i loved watching heath and clayton play. i hate that these boys are growing up away from each other because i really just think they could and should be best friends. i also feel that way about beckett and camdyn. it's so dumb that we have these perfectly aged cousins living in other places. everyone should really just move to washington. it would make me really happy. go ahead... get on that family. thanks.

cousin secrets! they are gossipy little things!

random reno

here are some random reno cousin pictures, that are important for you to see!

the lake at papou and yiayia's new house

matt and kate took beckett and clayton to play at the park and i just now noticed when downloading these pictures that beckett is barefoot like some hillbilly child. delightful. matt... kate... an explanation for this?

getting ready to run through the sprinklers. first he loses the shoes... now this?

we also all went to check out the university because it's been TEN years and a lot of stuff has changed. i have a very special place in my heart for unr. even though i have never technically used my degree in elementary education,my college years totally shaped my future life. so many of the most important people i know today, i met in college. the school is looking really great... it has a beautiful new library and student union. my only regret is that i left my wallet at home... with my old student id... with so much advantage cash still on it. i assume that stuff never expires? anyways, we took the boys to play at the quad, where my college graduation was held, and i sat and reminisced about some of the best times and it was nice.
