sister date

saige and i went on a sister day date because we're romantic like that. we took a ferry to whidbey island and did a pretty crazy job planning our day. we had read some random stuff on the internet and just drove around to places in no particular order. we went on a hike at an earth sanctuary and got pretty lost on the celestial trail. we were pretty zen about it though. luckily a man with a verrrrrry long scarf who looked like gort from halloween town II: kalabars revenge, helped us. if you have no idea what i'm talking about, sorry there is no help for you. we had some lunch down by the water and window shopped at some crazy stores that our mom would have loved. seriously. and then we went and had a drink and some pie at a winery. you know, just all the usual stuff. i had to make our selfie on here black and white because that feels less intense to me. the camera was just really close to our faces and i should have had saige hold the camera because she has the world's longest arms. it doesn't even look like selfies when she takes it. it's true... she's a special lady with many talents.

tiny blind date

at the end of may, a friend from high school, mon-wei, came up to seattle to visit her sister who lives up here. she has a daughter, ava, who is only a few weeks apart in age from beckett. so we sent them on a blind date. at a coffee shop. it went okay. except we were there too, and having your mom's on your blind date is a little lame. although, if i hadn't been there i don't know who would have rescued beckett from the very top of the tree house play structure in the rei when he got stuck. so there's that. it's weird to see friends from your way, way past all grown up with babies. also, it's cool. thanks for taking some time out of your short visit to drink vanilla steamers with us, mon-wei and ava! my pictures aren't the best... don't judge... i was being a chatty chatterson.

country village

last week when it was oh so warm and sunny (unlike now... it is like fall outside! love it!) we met penelope and margaret at country village for a picnic. we took a ride on the tiny train and beckett and jane loved it. penelope felt unsure about it. i wouldn't even say unsure... nonchalant, maybe. after lunch, and the train, we went to the candy store and jane and beckett got to pick out a candy treat. i picked beckett's out for him and he got those little pastel mints that look like tiny hershey kisses with sprinkles. worst decision ever. i gave him a tiny cup in the car and he ate one and dumped the rest out. when we got to the house, beckett and the car seat were covered in pink, green, and yellow melted mint. it was everywhere... i think the mints were multiplying back there because i did not give him that many. jane and i had quite the afternoon cleaning it up. (don't judge me... jane offered... she likes cleaning. she is a mini version of her dad.)

a date with quinn

after the hunger games (i am catching up sloooowly) whitney and i had a million things to get done and instead we decided it was too beautiful outside to not spend the day enjoying the weather. we went to a park that was new to me, beckett, and quinn. it is really gigantic and castle themed! it is super cool. i think beckett will extra love it when he is a little older. it is also a pretty new park, but doesn't feel new and i like that. it seems like a park from when i was little. and it has a tire swing! aaaand, if things couldn't get more exciting, aunt kate came and met us with emma! beckett loves emma. emma tolerates beckett. he weirdly leans up against her and tries to pick her up sometimes, which is clearly not even possible. anyways, b and q had a fun time at the park and it is so adorable to watch them already being little boys. they had to go and check out all the other bikes and wagons that belonged to other kids and try to steal them. is it like a rule for ALL boys to be obsessed with ALL things transportation related? i think it is. they also had to pick up lots of rocks and move them around... to better rock spots. oh boys, you are fun!
