pirate day

country village had a pirate day and every kid got a pirate map and went to the marked stores where they got small prizes and when they finished up they got a pirate shirt. i thought it might be weird to dress b up like a pirate, but we happened to have a pirate costume (from gianna way back when) and in the end, the kids that weren't dressed up seemed like the oddballs. why do so many people own pirate costumes for their kids? please notice how penelope is dressed like jake from jake and the neverland pirates. don't you love her hair? also notice how margaret is wearing shorts. dear lord... it is late september, why is this hot weather still happening?! oh well. country village is super weird and i super love it. 

summa' time

sometimes in washington we get some weirdly sunny days at the very end of spring and you just have to spend every moment of them outside with some of your best friends, enjoying the sun. even i like it... for about two days and then i am fully ready for autumn. i liked this day though and you can just tell these kids are ready for outside time!

tiny gymnasts

beckett and quinn went to a gymnastics class trial. it was interesting. beckett was actually pretty good at the tumbling and balancing and whatever three year olds do during gymnastics. he was not however, good at listening. any time the teacher was not engaged with him and looking directly at him, he would just take off to play on equipment he wasn't supposed to or weirdly try and integrate himself into another class that was happening. i swear the instructor (a teenage guy) spent half the class time chasing beckett around the gymnastics area. beckett is usually a pretty good listener, especially with people he doesn't know, but i think all those mats and rings and pits were just too tempting. after the class i asked him if he wanted to go back and do more gymnastics or play soccer. he picked soccer. that's fine, but we'll probably get back around to gymnastics eventually. or not. who knows. i only took junkie iphone pictures. sorry charlie.

bowling

over the weekend matt took beckett bowling for the first time. i guess i don't have a lot to say about this. beckett liked it. i can't think of the last time i personally went bowling. maybe not since we lived in reno? this is strange because i'm an excellent bowler. (i'm lying.)

jump magic

i've taken beckett a few times to skymania, a trampoline park by our house. it is crazy expensive most of the time, but they have a few toddler jump times that are super cheap. the tricky thing about it is that the pictures are terrible because the kids are jumping. i could probably bring our good camera and get some really cool shots, but instead i just keep using my iphone and being annoyed at the terribleness of the photos. oh well. skymania is pretty fun, although i think it will get even better when b is a little older. matt is always jealous that we go while he is working. there are quite a few dads at toddler time, that are having equally as much fun as the child they brought. maybe more. 

wiggle works

when we were traumatizing beckett with santa visits, i noticed the crossroads mall had a new play area called wiggle works. i decided that beckett and jane really needed to check it out (grace is too big... sad) and i took them back right away. jane really liked it. beckett LOVED it. we played for two hours and i was that mom carrying her screaming toddler out the front door. he did not know why we would ever leave such a great place. it's actually not very big, but it clearly had everything a small person could ever want. it's pretty fun for the little ones.
