mangoes!
we tried mangoes today... because we are exotic like that, but b didn't love them, per the usual. matt and i both tried it and it was super good too! i hope beckett starts to like food soon... i really love nursing, but i don't want to be nursing my forty eight month old.
a party for the other matt!
on sunday night, our friend whitney, threw a late surprise party for her hubby matt. matt actually shares a birthday with saige. july 14th is a very special day. whitney made lots of delicious food, including homemade mac and cheese (yum!) and we of course had tasty ice cream cake. it is matt's favie. also, people played some backyard games, but i didn't participate because i am a bum. i did photograph it a little, though. here are lots of pictures from the night! happy (late) birthday to matt k!

b loves visitors
we had a special treat this last weekend... yiayia and uncle sean were up for a visit! sean is competing in a horse show in carnation this week, so we got to spend some time with them before his show started. as a double bonus, i got to do some wedding dress shopping for kate with allie, while matt had a guys day with beckett and sean. of course, i can't put up any dress pictures, but kate found some real goodies and it was a fun day.
what would you do for $8?
saige would eat a piece of raw onion. also, she hates onions. last thursday my friend, aaron, from high school, was up here visiting for a wedding and came over for dinner. he was of course thrilled to meet beckett and to spend some time trying to get saige to do random things for money. just like old times.
the dirty dozen
i was grocery shopping with kate last week and we started talking about the benefits of buying organic. she told me about the dirty dozen fruits and vegetables. have you heard of this? i hadn't... so i started doing a little research. it is pretty interesting stuff. every year the ewg (environmental working group) puts out a list of the most pesticide filled fruits and veggies. it is nice to know because if you want to be picky and choosy about what you buy organically (because organic stuff is pricey!) you can know what is worth your money. also, they put out a list of the clean fifteen. these fruits and veggies have very little trace of pesticides, so no need to go organic and waste your money. in conclusion... i think i am going to start buying the dirty dozen organically. i originally was just going to buy organic food for b, but pesticides are passed through breast milk (yikes) and a big plus for organic food is that farms that grow organically create better work conditions for farmers and are better for the environment. all good news. below is a good, not too crazy pro environment article on the dirty dozen and of course the lists because i know you want to know! i know a lot of meats and milk have terrible stuff in them too (not too mention the article i just read about chocolate! say it isn't so!), but gosh baby steps! hopefully, i won't end up a crazy person on a farm growing and breeding and milking for my family. although, a little bit that seems fun.

big guy in a shopping cart
a very special someone rode in the shopping cart today at target all by himself. they just grow up so fast, don't they? i decided he needed a reward for his excellent target behavior... so we got some blocks. he loves them. also, i love the cute target brand of baby toys... B. they are adorable fun colors and earth friendly and a portion of the profits go to poverty stricken children. what's not to like about that? plus, they share a name with my baby. and as a side note, our target started carrying fresh groceries! target, why are you so great? if only you were located in kirkland. that would be perfect.
