excuse me while i just pretend that clayton is my child for a moment and start documenting all his milestones on the blog. just kidding. only one milestone. whitney gave clay his first haircut while the bruners were up visiting and first haircuts are just a big deal. heath even hand fed him some blueberries during the process because we are nothing if not excellent hosts. the haircut went well (putting scissors right by the face of a tiny, wiggling, not understanding the situation person would stress me out, but whitney seems fine about it) and clay looked so handsome with his new cut. he l also looks three years older. haircuts! you're so sneaky. also! i just realized that i think whitney has given every boy cousin in our family their first haircut. now its a weird tradition we'll have to follow forever.

heath's first haircut!
heath got his first haircut! his hair is so different than beckett's. it is blonde and crazy wispy and has an insane growth pattern. he was developing a terrible comb over and something had to be done! haircuts always make me cry, but things are looking much more reasonable now! he is the cutest!
beckett also got a haircut a few days before heath and that one really almost killed me. it is the shortest we have ever gone and he looks like he is ten. what in the world?! oh well... i think it just only took a few years off my life. thanks to whitney for keeping my boys looking good!

haircut!
the creepy clown at the street fair thought beckett was a girl. whatever. the next day an old man asked me how old my little lady was. hmm. beckett has a boyish face and i certainly dress him in boy clothes... so that could only mean one thing. his hair was too long. i felt sad about cutting it. i thought it was cute and i liked how it curled at the ends and i thought he would look older with short hair. i decided to cut it anyway. we went to whitney and she did a good job and beckett really did not care one bit that his hair was getting cut. i only got a tiny bit teary over it. his short hair looks very cute, but he does look like he is maybe ten. at a store today beckett walked up to a little girl and the girl said, "mommy... this baby came to see me!" and the mom said, "that's not a baby... he is a toddler." i wanted to tell that mom, to take it back! it's the truth though, he does toddle. sometimes watching your kid grow up is rough!

did you get a haircut? yes... i got them all cut!
i mentioned in an earlier post that matt did not get one single haircut the whole time i was pregnant. since i knew i was pregnant pretty much instantly that means that matt's hair grew from april 2010 to january 2011. why the abstaining from the trim? we have no idea. his hair was getting a little long and as a joke i asked him if he was going to give up haircuts like i had given up precious, precious lunch meats for the baby and he said, "maybe." and that was it... no cutting for him. so, our good friend whitney, who is a really very good hairdresser (i would promote her more, but i really don't know anybody who doesn't already use her) came over one week after beckett was born to give matt his much needed hair update. she also brought us really delicious carnitas and raw cookie dough! i must say... the flowing locks were a fun change, but i prefer the shorter do.
