breaking dawn: part deux

so... i am a blogging slacker, but it's not my fault. my blog would not let me download anymore pictures unless i started paying money! boo! matt did not want me to pay a monthly fee so now i am having to slowly remove the pictures from my blog and re-download them at a smaller size. pain in my rear end. seriously. not cool blogger, not cool. anyways...

this is it... the twilight saga has come to its thrilling conclusion. although i have been less than impressed with the movies, it is still sad when something ends. the last movie was shown at 10pm (what a really super nice idea!) and misty drove us in her minivan to the movies. it was seriously a little preview of her future, a van full of screaming girls.

per the usual, here is a little review. this does have plot spoilers, if you haven't read the books, but i will not give movie spoilers away about the end... you have to see it for yourself. just like matt did.

baby renesmee was soooooooo bad. so bad. why didn't they use a real baby? the computer animated thing just did not do the trick. goodness gracious. i could hardly get over it. the actress who plays older renesmee is unnaturally beautiful for a child. she is too much, but not in a bad way.

the sex scene with edward and bella was disappointing. they are both vampires now and things are supposed to be crazy, but the director went with super romantic... like they were both humans. boring.

i think my favorite actors are the guys that play charlie and aro. they win. jacob was better in this movie because i've realized that taylor lautner doesn't know how to act angry, but he is okay when he just needs to be mostly happy. kristen stewart is... still kristen stewart.

there is a crazy twist ending! crazy! i screamed for about five minutes, it was so good.

just like the end of the movie... here is a look back!

wreck-it ralph

we took beckett to see his first movie today. i know you are thinking he is too young and judging us, but whatevs he did pretty good. he wasn't big enough to keep the seat down, so that was annoying, but he wasn't scared at all of the dark or loudness or bigness of the screen. he got a small bag of popcorn, which he thought was very exciting and he was very chatty, but it was a kids movie and was packed with kids, so not a big deal, i think. kate and zac met us at the movie and b didn't know they were coming and he could barely handle himself when they walked in during the previews. he just really needed to say hi to them 500 times. he made it through about an hour of the movie before he started to get restless and i had to take him into the lobby to run around and be free and talk loudly. also, we saw wreck-it ralph and it was pretty cute, although i wasn't in love with some of the language they used. obviously not bad words... just like "shut up" and stuff. it was good otherwise though, especially if you're familiar with arcade games.

the hunger games

matt and i went to the midnight showing of the hunger games. i was really back and forth about whether or not i wanted to attend the midnight showing or if we should wait and what i would do about beckett and when we needed to get to the theater and if we should both go. matt suggested that we accept that we are adults with a child and that maybe our midnight viewings are over. i thought about that. i decided no. i am never too old for a midnight movie. and one late night is really no big deal... i can rally easily for that. i even took beckett out on a park date the next day and felt fine. see? i'm not getting old. i am young and hip. anyways, whitney sat in our house late into the night while our baby slept (thanks whitney!) and we got to take mackenzie to her first ever midnight movie. fun! super glad i went at midnight. no regrets. i also saw it again with saige two days later when she got home for spring break. glad i did that too.

okay, my movie thoughts (plot spoiler alert... but really, read the book before you see this movie... and do NOT tell me you are not a reader. what does that even mean? gross.)

cinna is my favorite character in the books. lenny kravitz was the worst actor in the movie. sad. could he have been more monotone? he just faded into the background practically. also, why doesn't lenny kravitz age? it's creepy.

the beginning of the movie is so shaky! like the camera man is having a seizure. it almost made me feel a little sicky. maybe the whole movie is like that, but i got used to it?

i thought katniss, peeta, and gale were all well cast. it is nice to see a movie with competent actors in the lead roles. (cough, cough...twilight)

i loved elizabeth banks as effie. i thought i wouldn't, but i did.

when rue died (SPOILER!) i didn't cry... which makes me feel like they did something wrong because i'm a crier and i certainly cried when i read about it in the book.

i loved the scene where the tributes first rode in on the carriages... it looked just like i imagined it would and i love when that happens. also, when katniss goes up in the tube to the arena, i felt nervous! like maybe i was going into the arena too! ahh!

how crazy intense was peeta's camouflage makeup? ha. he could have been a fake rock hiding forever.

in general, i think it was a very good adaptation of the book. some of the characters were underdeveloped as were their relationships with each other, but what can you do? as far as book adaptations, i think it was better than the harry potters and twilights. annnnd... shouldn't saige have been cast as foxface? it's like that character was based on her. if you know saige at all, i know you would agree.

i had to crop myself out of this picture because i was making a hideous face...

breaking dawn

of course i went to the midnight showing of breaking dawn. i was so sad to go to the last midnight showing of a harry potter movie and the twilight series is obviously no comparison, but it helps a little. thank goodness hunger games is coming soon. anyways, to fully embrace and celebrate bella and edward's wedding, whitney, anna, and i wore our own wedding dresses to the movie. great idea in concept... a little uncomfortable in reality. i actually had to change out of my dress right before the movie... the longer i went without nursing, the more... scandalous my dress got. and elisa showed up with a baby in her belly to embrace the movie also. probably she is going to name her daughter renesmee. ha. wouldn't that be the craziest?!

okay, my movie thoughts... (plot spoiler alert... but really, who watches these movies that hasn't read the books?)

taylor lautner is the worst actor ever. period. i challenge you to find somebody worse than him. how does somebody play a character for so long and not get any better... at all. how?!

the beginning of the movie was so weird and cheesy. i was seriously nervous, like even more than with the other movies. also, why did emmett look so chubby?

they did an amazing job with pregnant bella. she literally looked like she was dying. and like a skeleton. also, being weak and on the verge of death is a good place for kristen stewart's monotone acting skills to shine!

they did a great job with renesmee. she was a beautiful baby and looked big and alert, but not creepy.

this movie was a million times more mature than its predecessors. so much sex and graphic blood scenes. how will tweens watch this? side note... i want the black lingerie bella wears. it is the cutest.

the movie stayed very true to the book, which i always appreciate. and i shrieked several times as bella gave birth. i guess overall, i was satisfied? now just one year for the the not so thrilling anti-climatic climax.
