big fat thanks to d and s

traveling with a baby is hard. traveling with a mobile baby is harder. now that beckett is crawling and is only happy when moving around on his own, being out of the house is kind of a nightmare. being in other people's homes is a constant marathon of chasing him around, trying to move breakable or dangerous things out of his reach (which he is of course, drawn to like a magnet), and trying to figure out a way to get him to sleep, when he is really only a crib sleeper. and i don't even want to talk about the craziness of flying or the mounds of things you need to bring with you, just in case... on top of the baby bag, car seat, stroller, pack n play, and um... of course the baby. 


that's why i need to take a little time to give a shout out to dan and sarah. we recently stayed at their house, when down in the bay area, and it was really a life saver. they are good hosts in general, but they are great baby hosts. of course their home is more conducive to children because... well... they have children, but they really went above and beyond preparing for b to visit. 

they moved all the dangerous glass furniture out of the main room in their house
they got rid of all the cords and covered all the outlets
they went out and bought age appropriate toys for b
they lowered camdyn's crib (he is not using it quite yet) so b could use it safely
they went and bought all the food that b is eating right now
they have these cute live-in baby helpers named faith and mia, who were constant entertainment for b (plus baby camdyn... he doesn't help with beckett, but he is cute in the face, so that's nice)
they were willing to lend us whatever we needed... like a hip sporty bjorn
they gave us a car to borrow... after picking us up and dropping us off at the airport (sorry i almost vomited in your car. really? i am never going to outgrow car sickness? dumb.)
and... they didn't even judge when we were all still in our jammies at 2pm


are you serious? that is a lot of stuff. thanks uncle dan and aunt sarah for making traveling with a baby one million times easier. come visit us soon and we will try and return the favor! AND... we will even let you go out on a kid free date while you are here. do you remember what that is? we promise, you will like it. 

k and z have an engagement partay

last weekend we headed down to the bay area to celebrate kate and zac and their upcoming wedding. allen and terry hosted and it was a fun party, plus extra fun to get to hang out with all the family. we are SUPER excited for kate and zac. finally, they will make things official and we can start pressuring them to make more cousins for b! hurray!

our last day in the bay area we went to lunch, got ice cream, attempted to go on a walk (not too successfully thanks to a certain baby), and hung out before it was time to head home. i wanted to do a post because we took a groupish type photo i wanted to put up. please ignore my crying child who is trying to rip his own shirt off. he was really in a very good mood the rest of lunch. i hope this is not a sign that he is already over having his photo taken! you've got a lot of years of picture taking to put up with b, so you better get over it now! we will for surely miss our bay area family, but will hopefully see them again very soon!

sunday lunch date

on sunday we went over to grandpa allen and grandma terry's house to have some lunch. it was an especially fun lunch date because beckett got to meet his uncle mike, aunt shawna, and aunt michelle! also, aunt kate finally arrived for the end of the weekend. wowzas... this weekend was an aunt and uncle extravaganza! also, it would be rude of me to not mention another new family member we met, allen and terry's new poodle, cooper! thanks for the fun lunch date guys!

a party for daniel!

the whole family (minus aunt kate, sad) was down to celebrate uncle dan's birthday, with delicious mexican food. mmm... why is guacamole the world's most wonderful food? we had a fun night celebrating dan, whose birthday was really on the 10th, with everyone there. nights like this make me sad that the family is so spread out. probably everyone should just move to washington... it's the place to be. anyways, happy birthday to dan and thanks to aunt sarah for planning and cooking and baking and having us all over! the party was a success!

cousin love

last weekend we flew down to the bay area to celebrate matt's big brother, dan's birthday. we also got to meet our new nephew camdyn, finally! we stayed at dan and sarah's home... so we got to have lots of quality cousin time with faith, mia, and baby camdyn. dan and sarah are such super hosts. we had lots of good food and cozy hang out time. they really made our stay so very stress free, even with a baby. it was pretty nice. below is a sampling of the millions of cousin pictures we got... the kids are all so freakin' cute, how could they not be the focus of the camera all weekend?!
