father's day

we celebrated father's day this year with a day of sandwiches and an afternoon hike and picnic. although i am very much the planner and coordinator of our family, i am very much not the chef and father's day (and matt's birthday) make me a tad anxious because that's the only holiday where i am exclusively in charge of cooking. i think everything turned out pretty good though and i didn't poison anybody with under cooked meat or anything. and matt was happy because he got to pick out a new knife as his father's day gift and he's a creeper who is into knives.

matt is such a good dad to our boys. and it's just dumb how much more it makes me love matt, when i watch him love on our babies. and he really loves them a lot. and the boys love him so dang much back. they just light up when they hear his car pull up in the evening after work. and we all pretty much just live for the weekends and getting two full days of dad time. we're fortunate and grateful to call this guy ours and anybody who has spent anytime with us at all already knows it. 

happy father's day, matt! you are the best of the best. really, truly. 

father's day

our father's day was the opposite of eventful... eventfree? matt requested a day of doing nothing and that is just what happened. we stayed in jammies all. day. long. and it was nice. earlier in the week beckett's preschool did a father's day event and matt attended and enjoyed it and you will just have to imagine what it was like because matt took zero pictures. 

beckett and heath certainly love their dad to bits. and i love what a good dad he is. he is so super involved and helpful and fun. i knew from the very beginning when i first met matt that he would make a super great dad one day. it's nice to know, that per the usual... i was right! 

father's day re-do

on father's day we were road tripping to eugene... so we had a father's day re-do a few weeks late. matt is such a super great dad, one day celebrating him is really not enough. beckett is the luckiest that he gets to call matt dad, but matt and beckett definitely have a mutual love for their father son set-up. i sure do love watching them together though... it's the sweetest.

dad day!

father's day

since we spent father's day in reno and i was not super prepared for it, we had a belated father's day this sunday. i got up and made matt breakfast. he requested an omelette which turned out to be a poor choice because i am not good at making omelettes. really, how do you keep the egg from overcooking on the outside without being undercooked on the inside? somebody please explain this to me. anyways, matt ate it all because he is a good husband. then we went to the farm/park that matt loves. sometimes i think matt should have been a veterinarian. beckett loves the animals too, and he got nipped on the finger by a teenage chicken, which he did not appreciate and had a weird stand off with a turkey. matt picked to have a banh mi for dinner and he had his first ever bubble tea. bubble tea grosses me out. i would not try it, but beckett did. beckett picked out a nice wallet for his dad as a gift and we ended the night with an ice cream date after beckett went to bed. happy father's day to matt. beckett and i feel very lucky to have matt in our lives. he is really a super great wonderful dad, but that is no surprise to me... i did pick him to be my baby daddy!
