welcome to the planet, elliot sage!

a baby, a baby, a baby! and it's a boy! we are so very thrilled for the kreitlow family and the arrival of their new tiny person. he just really looks exactly like tiny quinn with darker hair. so precious. i love when siblings look the same. also when they look different. ha. i just really love siblings. the end. quinn and beckett are exactly six months and one week apart. heath and this sweet boy are also six months and one week apart. there is only a one day difference! i remember when beckett was born and the kreitlows came to the hospital and six month old quinn seemed gigantic! i couldn't even imagine him being friends with beckett... they seemed light years apart. and now you would never know they weren't the exact same age because six months is a blip of time and they are besties. i am so happy heath's bestie is here now too. congrats kreits... he is a real goodie!

annual camping trip

oh yes! our camping trip is annual now... since we semi-accidentally went on the exact same weekend as last year. i really am not a camper... i want to be, i like the idea of it, kind of, but living in the dirt by choice is just a little hard for me. beckett loves it with all his heart, and i love him with all my heart, so i can let him have this one camping weekend a year. we found a ridiculously gigantic tent on craigslist (it has roomS), planned an overly complicated (but delicious) menu, packed every baby item we own into the minivan... and we were off! we went to a campsite that was just a little ways north from us and it was actually a camping and rv spot. i originally thought that was lame, but it ended up being really nice. for one, most of the people at the site were in rv's and had their own bathrooms, so the campground bathrooms were always super clean and empty. for two, there was miniature golf, a playground (where matt dropped quinn on his face... oh no!), and a swimming pool. for three, they had themed weekends, and we were there for reptile weekend (we didn't know that) and the reptile man came and brought so many fun animals! so... pretty much extra super fun stuff for beckett and quinn! i was a little nervous to have a tiny baby camping, but he was SO easy and slept straight through the night until 11am on both nights. oh heath, you are the easist and i am oh so grateful! all in all, a successful trip and we are excited for next summer with FOUR kiddos in tow! yeah! oh, you want to see a million pictures? okay! here you go.

camping! (part two)

we went on our first official family camping trip. also, it was beckett's and my first ever camping trip. we spent 3 days at paradise point state park in southern washington. we went with the kreitlows, john, and reny. and crazily the mears were camping at the same place at the same time! what?! we snuck into their camp site like super creeps and scared them. except they weren't scared, but they did come have s'mores with us.

beckett loved every moment of camping. he loved running around with quinn. he loved non-stop snacking. he loved peeing on trees. he loved playing with sticks. he loved sleeping in a tent. he loved going to the river. it was basically the best time he ever had. when we got home, he said he wished we were still camping.

and we did all the things you should do while camping! hiking, swimming, a day trip to portland, lots of delicious camp fire meals, s'mores (with nilla wafers AND oreos AND chocolate covered pretzels!!!), early morning cocoa and coffee, homemade ice cream, bean bag games, pump rockets, and sleeping bag snuggling. and no showers. and probably more stuff. i wouldn't call myself a big camper or enjoy-er of extended stays outdoors, but i can appreciate the idea of it and i loved watching beckett love it all. so here come the pictures... which are causing this post to be broken into two because i can NOT narrow anything down. yay for camping!
