welcome to the planet, madeline marie!

baby madeline is here and is lookin' a lot like big sister penelope, but with dark hair! when i went to see her when she was just a few days old, i held her for over an hour and never saw her eyeballs! what a tiny, sleepy baby. i'm sure she is like this all the time and her parents are getting tons of good rest. ha! madeline is just a little ball of baby goodness and she might be giving me a little bit of a fever, if you know what i mean. i'm just absolutely sure that it must be some weird biological thing that make babies smell so good, and forces you to want to cuddle them all day long, but geez. luckily for the pierces... i did not kidnap their baby, i just only thought about it. congrats to margaret, pat, and penelope on your precious new family member!

a sprinkle for baby pierce

i (along with margaret's other good friend, krista) had the pleasure of throwing a sprinkle to celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby madeline. we had a little brunch with a french theme... loosely based on the book madeline. we did a mimosa bar, but seriously half of the guests had babies in their bellies, so we went through quite a bit of trader joe's non-alcoholic sparkling chardonnay. i am so excited for baby madeline to get here. she is due april 29th... so heath and this baby will be almost exactly a year apart. it has been extra weird slash cool watching margaret go through this pregnancy and remembering being the same amount pregnant at the same time the previous year. beckett and penelope are only three weeks apart in age... so obviously both winter babies and i know the pierces will super enjoy having a new baby on the verge of summer. it's the best. and siblings are also the best and i just love all these new sisters and brothers that are popping up! we are so excited for the pierces and can't wait to meet the final member to their sweet little family in a few weeks!

margaret is thirty!

on saturday we went to celebrate margaret's 30th birthday. 30? really? i mean, she is much older than me, so i'm not thinking about myself yet, but it's crazy for her. good thing she has me to keep her informed on what the hip, young people are doing. really, though... i have known margaret for 20 years and it's the craziest that we ended up in the same place and can still celebrate birthdays together. i could probably have dug around and found a picture from an elementary school birthday, but i am too lazy for such things. i do have a picture from margaret's 18th birthday (i think)... and that's pretty far back. can you believe how we have not changed even one bit? amazing, i know. happy birthday to margaux margaret! 30 looks great on you!

penelope's new home

last week b and i went over to visit margaret and penelope in their brand new house! wowie wow. it is pat's new home too... he was just at work, you know... how a majority of dads tend to spend their afternoons. their new house is faaaaaar away in everett, but it is a very cute little blue number and in a cutie neighborhood. it is also very close to the water and a hippy dippy co-op, which is right up margaret's alley. annnd it is a very old house and has very fancy old type things, like a claw foot bathtub and teeny tiny closet doors. so, here comes the bad news. and it is pretty bad. i didn't get my camera out until after penenlope went down for a nap... so i took no pictures of her! and she was being extra cute with beckett, she really loves him, but like a monster i just enjoyed the moment and didn't document it. on top of missing penenlope, i did a bad job at photographing the house at all. i have deep shame about it. i guess you will just have to go see the new house yourself if you are interested. below are the few pictures i did take. congrats on the new home, friends! 

october weddings

in my humble opinion, october is the very best and most romantic month to get married in. i'm actually not the only person that feels this way. october is the second most popular wedding month, behind june. i just love fall weddings... the colors, the feel, the weather. magic, all magic. i have lots of friends who also tied the knot in an october wedding (because why wouldn't you?!) check them out! and happy anniversary friends! do you have an october wedding and i left you out? sorry, i am ashamed. if you tell me, i will put you right on here too! unless you are a stranger... then don't be creepy, okay?!

welcome to the planet, penelope jean

i met margaret (you probably call her margaux, BUT that is not really her name) in third grade. even at the young age of nine, margaret was really into going to college and having a career and helping out the advancement of women. yes, it's true... she was a teeny tiny feminist. i, on the other hand, had big plans to get married young and have a million kids that i would drive around in my minivan. i told margaret that i was sure we would grow up and have kids together. she said she wasn't sure if she wanted to get married. well, i don't want to come right out and say... what cortney wants, cortney gets, but i will say this...

i am more that thrilled to announce that margaret and her wonderful husband ;) pat, welcomed their daughter, penelope pierce into the world on january 29th. margaret had a looooong labor and was a serious trooper and is looking amazing in the birthing aftermath! might i mention that penelope came a mere three weeks after beckett. they will certainly be lifelong friends. i am so excited to share this next big chapter in our lives, as i always knew we would. congrats to margaret and pat... penelope is really just too cute to handle.

a note for margaret... margaret, i know you said you maybe only wanted one child, but you should accept now that i know the fate of your future better than you do and penelope has siblings in her future for sure! no worries though, you have this mom thing down.
