lil kickers

beckett and quinn are becoming soccer stars! really just quinn. beckett only participates about half the time. the class is cute though and i love those tiny jerseys. since we were slackers and signed up late, we have to drive out to the seattle location for classes. it's okay though... it is only half full of seattle hipster parents. ha. i am excited to have officially begun beckett's sports activities life. here's to a future of soccer and swimming and whatever else he wants to play. go team go.

all the pictures are pretty terrible because i just had my little crappy camera, which is already kind of on the fritz and all the pictures are action shots. maybe i will bring the good camera next time, but probably i will forget.

beckett kol at 27 months

oh geez, where to begin? i feel like everyday beckett does something funny or smart or naughty and i think, "oh gosh, remember this to put on the blog monthly review update!" then i sit down to write this thing and... nothing. blarg. i am hoping that i will just start typing and the stories will come back.

nicknames: b... baby boy... beckett kol

for your birthday you got a small table and chairs and you are the sneakiest sneaker with the chairs. when you see something up on the counter that you want or you think there might be something up there that is good or you are just feeling hopeful about counter contents, you will go grab a little chair. you quietly drag it over and scurry right up onto the counter (or scarier... onto the bar) and head towards your goal with laser like focus. you completely ignore everything else around you, including people yelling at you. when your dad screams at you to get down you just scramble to stuff as much in your mouth as you can before you get yanked down. you know you're going to get in trouble too, but it's just totally worth it. the top of our fridge is overflowing with candy dishes, cookie boxes, and easter candy... since that's the only place you can't get it.

you have started helping with small chores around the house like feeding the dogs and setting the table. i used to give you silverware and napkins and cups and you would just grab everything and set it on the edge of the dining room table. one day you took a long time in the dining room and when i came to check on you, everything was in the right spot. there was a napkin at all our places with the correct silverware on top of it and our glasses next to the napkins. i couldn't even believe it. how adorable are you? it made me weirdly emotional, i just felt like it was such a big boy thing to do. you are almost always a helpful cleaner and assist in putting away your toys too.

you have started to get that weird little kid sense of humor. sometimes you tell us that you want us to start calling you something super random, like tuesday. i have no idea where that came from. if we forget to call you by your fake name, you will ignore us and eventually say, "beckett's not here. call me tuesday." okay... tuesday, you wacko.

you HATE to have dirty hands. the bad news for you is that you have a mom and dad who both had issues with cleanliness and crumbs as children, so you were doomed. if you are eating something very crumbly or messy like a muffin, you will ask to wash your hands several times during the eating process. you also don't like to get messy during a craft project. the messy twos art class you took was a big waste of money, since half the time was spent at the classroom sink, rinsing off paint and glue and glitter and whatever else. for being as obsessed as you are about your hands, you never notice when you have food covering your face.

you are a great independent player and are so good at building things (a lot of robots) and cooking things (a lot of soups) and creating things (a lot of swords and monsters) and pretend play (always animals... dragons, horses, cats, etc.) your little mind is already working so hard. when you are sick of playing alone, you ask somebody to come and play with you and nobody can resist it. you're cute and a good play friend. you also love to play with your train set (ikea!), but you call the train pieces little tractors.

lots more to say, but this post has already taken me five years to get done. i know you noticed. you are such an irrational little crazy person, but also so loving and adorable. i love our car conversations, where you tell me about your whole day (even though i was there for all of it). i love and hate how you only say mama and dada about half the time now and are transitioning to mom and dad. i love how you almost always wake up happy and excited to  see us. i love spending every day with you because you really are my favorite tiny person. beckett, we love you most of all.
