quinn is five!

quinn turned five! and it just might as well be 25, amiright? i don't know why five feels so gigantic, but it does. we were at the kreitlow's on the 29th and i was telling quinn that it was his magic night and it was going to be the last time he ever went to sleep as a four year old, and as i said it, my voice cracked! and i squeeked out, "tomorrow you wake up five!" and it sounded more like a threat, than something exciting and quinn looked a little concerned about the whole thing and i just almost started crying like some sort of lunatic. good times. anyways, quinn had a backyard party with games and it was a billion degrees out, so there was an emergency make-shift slip 'n' slide created and the kids loved it. thanks for inviting us to your FIFTH birthday quinn, we had so much fun and five looks great on you! aaaaaaand, infinity pictures start now...

oh my gosh... this little girl asked me to take a picture of her and this spider! ava, you kill me.

birthday quinns of the past!

father's day

we celebrated father's day this year with a day of sandwiches and an afternoon hike and picnic. although i am very much the planner and coordinator of our family, i am very much not the chef and father's day (and matt's birthday) make me a tad anxious because that's the only holiday where i am exclusively in charge of cooking. i think everything turned out pretty good though and i didn't poison anybody with under cooked meat or anything. and matt was happy because he got to pick out a new knife as his father's day gift and he's a creeper who is into knives.

matt is such a good dad to our boys. and it's just dumb how much more it makes me love matt, when i watch him love on our babies. and he really loves them a lot. and the boys love him so dang much back. they just light up when they hear his car pull up in the evening after work. and we all pretty much just live for the weekends and getting two full days of dad time. we're fortunate and grateful to call this guy ours and anybody who has spent anytime with us at all already knows it.

happy father's day, matt! you are the best of the best. really, truly.

just a little camping

yiayia and papou came to visit for a few days and took beckett on an overnight camping trip. they went to tolt macdonald campgrounds... not too far from us, in case camping got a little overwhelming, but they said beckett did great. beckett loves camping and loves family and was too excited for a little personal time with his yiayia and papou. they wore him out with hiking, and tadpole hunting, and s'more making, and tent building. we're so grateful for fun, active grandparents that come and take our sweet guy on tiny adventures.
