papou is an ironman!

over the weekend we took heath on his first road trip to coeur d'alene in idaho. we went to visit yiayia, papou, and uncle sean who were there because papou was competing in an ironman. so cool! it was really fun and exciting to see bob compete in his fifth ironman. the whole thing is super impressive. the ironman triathalon consists of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride, and  a marathon 26.2 mile run, completed without a break. i know... you probably need to take a nap just after reading that. i really loved being there for the event. the thing is organized really well (you know i appreciate that) and you just want to cry about every single person that crosses the finish line because come on... what an accomplishment! we got to see papou start his second lap on his bike, transition from the bike to run portion, and cross the finish line. it is really tricky to find people on the course and correctly time when they will be coming by, but we tried our best. bob had a great time... a little over 12 hours and was totally okay right after the race. i would have just been passed out on the ground or something. heath and beckett both did really well on the drive and becektt loved getting to spend time with family. heath probably loved it too... it's hard to say, since he is just a baby and all. in the end, we had a successful first little trip! yeah!

father's day

our father's day was the opposite of eventful... eventfree? matt requested a day of doing nothing and that is just what happened. we stayed in jammies all. day. long. and it was nice. earlier in the week beckett's preschool did a father's day event and matt attended and enjoyed it and you will just have to imagine what it was like because matt took zero pictures.

beckett and heath certainly love their dad to bits. and i love what a good dad he is. he is so super involved and helpful and fun. i knew from the very beginning when i first met matt that he would make a super great dad one day. it's nice to know, that per the usual... i was right!

end of year performance

beckett had an end of year preschool performance to celebrate the end of the year and to watch the pre-k class graduate. the kids sang some songs and did sign language along with them... and as you can tell they were really on it, since nobody's doing the same sign in any of the photos. it was still cute though... cause kids doing things is cute. then we spent thirty minutes trying to keep beckett from sneaking 1000 cookies into his mouth (especially since somebody brought peanut butter cookies even though we were specifically told not to)! we are sad the school year is over (even sadder that harper won't be back next year), but we are looking forward to a schedule free summer. just existing with two kids is hard!

this is the face lonnie makes when she sees my camera. now it's on the blog FOREVER!

what is this face?! i love her.
