leaving on a jet plane

beckett and i took the traveling plunge and went to visit jenni and coen (and wes) in hawaii! i was very nervous to travel alone with beckett. luckily, i persuaded lauren to come to hawaii with us and she met up with beckett and i in los angeles. hurray for lauren, the nanny. she was a pretty good nanny and i paid her terribly (actually not at all and i even borrowed some money from her while i was there... worst employer ever). the hardest part of traveling with beckett was getting through security. he did not want to wait in line one bit and felt like he should just be able to run around like a crazy person. other then that, he did great. really great on the flights. no melt downs at all and he didn't even sleep on the five hour flight over there! we got several compliments on his super flying demeanor. we also had a two hour layover in la, so my family came to hang out with us at the airport and see b for just a bit. b was so happy to see his papa, oma, and uncle jack. it was a quicky quick visit, but we will be back down in the summer. jenni and coen were waiting at the airport with leis and b was like a little drunkard acting like he could barely hold up a flower necklace after all that traveling. we flew into kona and here is a BIG tip for anybody who is planning on visiting the thelens. DO NOT fly into kona. the kona airport is about 2.5 hours from the house. that is too many hours when you have already been traveling for over twelve hours. too many! especially if you suffer from car sickness, which i do. spend the extra money and fly into hilo. seriously. okay, this is a ton of writing and i've only talked about traveling... geez... boring much? i'm done!
