so, in general i don't get involved with political junk because it makes me frustrated and annoyed. why doesn't everyone feel the way i feel about issues and people and laws? silly business. anyway, there is one topic i feel is important enough to voice my opinion... and here it is.
if you live in washington, you need to vote to approve referendum-74. i know that people feel the way they are going to feel, and i hardly think i am going to change opinions, but let me go ahead and try.
i don't care how you feel about gay people. (i really do care, but that is for another day...) i don't care how you feel about marriage. i don't care how you feel about gay people raising families. i don't care about your religion. here is what it comes down to. if you are a straight person, and gay marriage is made legal literally nothing in your day to day life will change. nothing. your day will run exactly as it did before. your marriage will be the exact same marriage it was before, good or bad.
if a marriage equality law is not passed, the lives of gay people are greatly and dramatically impacted EVERY SINGLE DAY. you are telling somebody else what kind of relationship they can have and how they can live their own life when it has no impact on your own! that is wrong. it just is, any way you look at it.
so, there's that. i'm not usually serious (or not beckett focused) on my blog, but today is different. go vote. and go vote ethically. the least you can do is not go around thinking you are great enough to be running stranger's lives and making life choices for them. :)
