redhead event!

a few weekends ago saige was in portland with some friends and a lady came up to her and handed her a card that talked about a redheaded event that was happening in portland. saige texted me a picture of the card, as a funny joke, and i immediately called whitney to tell her to clear her schedule because we were going to portland on august 17th. and we really did it people. and the event was trying to break the world record for the most redheads in one place at one time (the record was 1255 in the netherlands) and we totally broke it. so now we are pretty much famous record breakers.

i am really glad we did it because as papou bob says, "life is just a string of experiences, so you have to go out and experience as much as you can." it was SO HOT though! i thought we might just melt away and quinn fell asleep slash passed out from heat stroke. and it was pretty disorganized and we had to wait a long time to be counted. and we had to walk into this gated area and the sun was beating down and for a minute i thought maybe the whole thing was a conspiracy planned by someone who hated redheads (with their fair skin) and it was going to be the end of us. we made it though! phew!

just for the record... i love being a redhead. i've always liked having red hair and i can not think of a single time that i was teased for it. i feel like a lot of newspapers and tv stations reported on this event and they painted it as a group of outcasts coming together in solidarity and pride for their freakish hair color.  whateves... man. it's a darn shame that we are going extinct. dumb recessive genes.

we had lunch at deschutes brewery (thanks for the recommendation natasha) and it was so very delicious. AND they make homemade rootbeer and gingerale and they were SO GOOD! the gingerale tasted like liquefied gingersnap cookies. beckett kept sneaking sips even though it was carbonated ("so sparkly") and he usually doesn't like that. overall, i would say it was a good day in portland. even though i kind of a little really hate portland mostly.
