our new nursery is pretty much done! it needs a few more things... like curtains and decor stuff and a tiny, sweet baby. when i was decorating a nursery for beckett, i asked for crazy expensive bedding and i swore to matt that i LOVED it so much i would reuse it for baby 2 if we had another boy. i was a terrible, dirty little liar. i instantly wanted to plan a whole new nursery with this baby. i went with a kind of nighttime theme. i don't love overly themed stuff... so it's just accents mostly. the color palette is grey, navy, and white. and i love how it turned out. and i like to sit in the room and imagine a little baby boy that is coming and it makes me happy.
i wasn't sure what i wanted to do with the star wall decals, and i thought i might do a small border around the closet. then i got a million packs of them because the target registry is the worst and it made me go insane and make a whole star wall. i like it. when i was in high school... i had a weird star obsession. i even have a star tattoo!
is this blue cart the cutest thing you ever saw? except for maybe that lamp, nothing is cuter.
if you know me at all... you know of my deep, deep love of the ikea expedit collection. well, ikea is getting rid of it! and they are replacing it with a smaller, cheaper, less option-ie collection. why ikea? why?! anyways, the white bookshelves i wanted were already discontinued... so i had to get billy bookcases. i am getting over it, but it's been hard.
i designed these song quote guys for above the crib and john printed them out for me and they just turned out so good. hurray!
the changing area. it's pretty cute for being an area to do something really not cute. oh baby poo... i am not too excited about you. i AM excited about a new guy to live in this nursery!!! come on baby, we are ready to meet you!

a nursery sneak peek
sometimes i look at the calendar and see months and months left of this pregnancy and i think, "will it never end?!" and the next moment i think... "i am going to blink and this new baby is going to be here! what am i doing with my time?!" we were definitely more prepared for beckett by this point in the pregnancy... with a pretty much complete nursery. this time, not so much. the nursery still looks a whole heck of a lot like saige's room. as in, we've done nothing. BUT that doesn't mean i'm not planning! it's just hard to be motivated this time around. especially since i know that nursery probably won't get any use for another six months. where is my nesting instinct, kick in you little jerk! at least i have been hoarding baby clothes, so our new guy won't be roomless AND nakie. anyway, i do have a color theme and a small registry and i do think this is going to be a very adorable room. when it gets done.
we are doing the nursery grey, navy, and white. with a loose (let's not get crazy over it) starry night theme. grey is such a popular decor color right now and i appreciate it. i have a lot of options. i made chalkboard looking prints for above the crib, and we are using metal wire baskets for storage, and some fun prints on the bedding and curtains. i think this room will be more modern than beckett's maybe? we'll see. here is a little sneaky peek.

beckett's room
so, beckett has been living in his room for about a year and a half. i would say almost two years, but he was never in his room the first few months of his life. really... like never. we have made a few changes... upgrades if you will and i thought i would do a little room update.
i wanted to do a map in beckett's room, but i couldn't figure out what exactly. i found a map of the united states on pinterest that was a free download, but it was only meant to be printed on a piece of paper. i sent it to john and asked him to help me and he figured out how to make it bigger (i have no idea how) and printed it out on canvas. i looooove it. thank you john!!! i made little flags to mark the states that beckett has visited (5! including hawaii) and hopefully we will eventually fill that map right up! it turned out so cute. i'm sure you will be jelly.
i saw a crib at pottery barn kids that had a photo progression of the baby above it on the wall, so i planned on eventually copying that idea. originally, i put maternity photos in the frames and started replacing them as beckett hit milestones. the frames are in belly, birth, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 1 year. the frames are ikea and anything with beckett on it is adorable... so it turned out real cute. they are above the crib so they are seriously mounted to the wall. we will surely lose some drywall when we rip those babies down.
pbk has a new elephant collection. what i love about it, is that it is all grey and white. i bought a fitted sheet. it compliments his bedding perfectly.
beckett has also received some special items from some special people. a handmade elephant from aunt saige. a cozy monster from aunt brandie...who lives on the chair during the day and sleeps with b at night. an ugly doll picture drawn for b by his cousin mia. a giant photo of b (printed by john... again!) that we used at his birthday. all these things make his room extra personalized and special!
and... here are some random room shots... cause his room is cute.
i saved the best for last! my favie favorite part about beckett's room these days is that there is a beckett in it! a real little person to enjoy all the things we and everybody else got with him in mind. he is even better than i expected when i sat in this room two years ago imagining the little boy that was coming. awesome.

a room for our new roomie
yes, it is true... i am finally getting around to posting pictures of the nursery. i loved, loved, loved getting to decorate a nursery. baby stuff is too freakin' cute and a whole room of baby stuff... well, it could kill me. i based the room around the caden lane bedding i found, and had to have. in my opinion boy bedding is way harder to pick than girl bedding. boy names are harder to pick too, i don't know why. it was really more than i should have been spending on bedding, but lucky for me some good friends pitched in and got it for me. yea for good friends! so, the theme is moroccan and i am also kind of into elephants. matt informed me right away that there are actually no wild elephants in morocco (there are goats that live in trees, though... google it!), but i think probably only matt and the people of morocco know that. well, you know now too. so, i love the way the nursery turned out, it is my favorite room in the house and we were oh so blessed to have family purchase almost everything in the room. beckett is very loved, even as a fetus. and nobody wishes more than me that he was here right NOW to start enjoying his nursery. soon though, very soon.
my inspiration... oh how i love this bedding
love the bookshelf
a cute spot for a not so cute task
comfy... cozy...
beckett balls!
super baby friendly lanterns
our genious baby will love to read
