a shower for baby bruner

aunt kate and uncle zac were up in washington for a weekend because kate had an interview for a residency position up here. if anybody cares what i think... anybody? i think she should really try and get it because then i will watch the new baby with my new baby and they will bestie cousin friends for life! unfortunately, it's not really my decision. anyways, kate and zac got to go to beckett's birthday party (lucky them) and nadia (zac's sister) threw a baby shower for kate. have i mentioned on the blog that kate is pregnant? well, clearly now you know. i am SO excited because our due dates are only 3 weeks apart! AND we are both having boys! and it's going to be the most fun for them to grow up together! also, i am just excited for kate and zac because they are so excited to be parents and it is just going to be so great for them. and sometimes i think about them with a sweet baby and i cry. hormonal much? moving on, the shower was a nautical theme (which also is going to be the nursery theme) and it had lots of really cute personal touches and a really delicious chicken salad that i wish i was eating right now. here are some pictures. kate, i can NOT wait to meet your tiny baby boy, i could not be more happy about your growing family! 

twentyfour weeks

beep beep! let's party!

beckett had a great time celebrating his third birthday party with lots of good friends and some family. this year dizzy's tumblebus came to help beckett celebrate. matt and i both used to work for the tumblebus and have worked many, many tumblebus birthday parties. let me tell you, being on the other side is magical. beckett loved, loved, loved it. and we got to send all of the kids out of our house to be entertained for an hour. it is a perfect choice for rainy weather days (which we have a lot of up here and it was raining during the party)! since we had the tumblebus, the party was transportation themed. i will admit that i didn't go as decor, theme crazy this year... i think i am maybe a little tired from human growing or something. a bajillion pictures... although not much of the decor. i took no pictures of the banners or the drink table or the front door decor... all these things existed though.

we had a morning party and served breakfast food. top pot doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, bacon, yogurt, and fruit (only stop light colors of course)... all of beckett's favorites. here is a tip. you absolutely can NOT make too much bacon. EVER. ever. it will always all get eaten. and if you're not making it in the oven... you're doing it wrong. sorry you had to find out this way.

here are the goody bags i made. so cute, right? i ordered the colored bags off amazon and used a white fabric marker to stencil transportation shapes on. inside the goody bags was play-doh, transportation shaped cutters (which i ordered off a crazy education site and they got here friday night... phew!) and fruit leather.

dizzy's tumblebus! i truly highly recommend it. really. here is a link to their website! dizzy bus you will be glad you had them come, it's so fun! sorry you can't have matt or i as instructors anymore, but there are still some good peeps. beckett really loves mr james. a lot.

beckett interview

here is beckett's yearly interview! in case you want to compare... below is a link to his interview from last year. the only question he couldn't answer this year was what his favorite restaurant is. he actually did answer... he said his favorite restaurant is ranger manger. this is not the name of a restaurant. this is not the name he calls a real restaurant that he doesn't know the legitimate name to. this is not even the name he calls his fake restaurant when he is playing in his kitchen. honestly, we don't eat out much... matt is a great cook, going out is expensive, eating out with a kid who has a life-threatening food allergy can be stressful, and chain restaurants are pretty low quality and generally not worth it... so maybe he really doesn't have a favorite place. maybe next year.
