the creepy clown at the street fair thought beckett was a girl. whatever. the next day an old man asked me how old my little lady was. hmm. beckett has a boyish face and i certainly dress him in boy clothes... so that could only mean one thing. his hair was too long. i felt sad about cutting it. i thought it was cute and i liked how it curled at the ends and i thought he would look older with short hair. i decided to cut it anyway. we went to whitney and she did a good job and beckett really did not care one bit that his hair was getting cut. i only got a tiny bit teary over it. his short hair looks very cute, but he does look like he is maybe ten. at a store today beckett walked up to a little girl and the girl said, "mommy... this baby came to see me!" and the mom said, "that's not a baby... he is a toddler." i wanted to tell that mom, to take it back! it's the truth though, he does toddle. sometimes watching your kid grow up is rough!

margaret is thirty!
on saturday we went to celebrate margaret's 30th birthday. 30? really? i mean, she is much older than me, so i'm not thinking about myself yet, but it's crazy for her. good thing she has me to keep her informed on what the hip, young people are doing. really, though... i have known margaret for 20 years and it's the craziest that we ended up in the same place and can still celebrate birthdays together. i could probably have dug around and found a picture from an elementary school birthday, but i am too lazy for such things. i do have a picture from margaret's 18th birthday (i think)... and that's pretty far back. can you believe how we have not changed even one bit? amazing, i know. happy birthday to margaux margaret! 30 looks great on you!

tiptoe through the tulips
whitney and i made plans to wake up early sunday morning and take the boys to the tulip festival. my alarm went off and i sat in bed wondering if we were the craziest people ever to drive our two toddlers over an hour away to a field of flowers. i decided it was worth the photo opportunity and got us ready. the boys did pretty good on the (two hour with traffic!) drive there. they also did pretty good at the tulip fields... until quinn landed in the biggest mud puddle ever and whitney almost peed her pants over it. they even both did okay at the super hot and crowded street fair we took them too (pictures on that later maybe). we lost them on the way home though... too much in one day. beckett screamed hysterically for twenty minutes straight and when he could scream no more, his good friend quinn was there to take over. here is the nice part about all this. the pictures turned out pretty darn cute and in twenty years when i look at them, i won't remember the screaming drive home and i will think by the look of the photos that we had a really nice day. and mostly we did.

zoo part two...
through a crazy series of events (not really that crazy) whitney and i switched memory cards in our cameras. she had some goodie good zoo pictures, which i stole... along with 500 other photos. not even exaggerating. and i wasn't like a creeper who stole pics of her family or something. here are some of them. if you are over our zoo trip, skip this post.

the sky is not blue...
let's go to the zoo! last saturday, i got a text message from anna that said they were moving away to napa in one week! such a sad story. we decided to have one last friend-o play date before the dunnes moved and it had to be a goodie. so we went to the zoo. since it was beckett's first trip to the zoo, i pressured matt into taking a looooong lunch and coming with us. it was good to have an extra adult so we weren't outnumbered by small children. beckett did okay at the zoo. he did not want to sit in his trike and really just felt in his heart he needed to be free to walk around in whatever direction he chose. matt and i spent a lot of time chasing him around. also, the zoo is a little depressing. i mean... caged animals are always sad, but also why does it seem like every single animal of every species is going extinct? probably because we keep capturing them and putting them in zoos where they get depressed and stop having babies. humans can be real jerks. anyways, it was overall a successful zoo trip and we had a fun time. we will for surely be missing foxXx, tyler, anna, and nick... they better come visit us a lot.
