christmas eve
we spent a delightful, quiet christmas eve with just immediate family at allie and bob's new house in reno. beckett did pretty good on the flights down to reno, considering his terrible cold, and really loved his yiayia and papou's home. they have so much furniture in the living room that we could move around to make a very gigantic playpen. it was very convenient. he also loved their big dogs and started saying doggie during the trip, except his says, "goggies!" also, i have to give a shout out to matt's brother, sean, who very generously gave up his room for almost a week so we could stay in it. it is a very fancy room... with a massage chair and mini fridge! so cool. anyways, we had tamales for dinner, which i thought was kind of crazy at first, but many people have mexican food on christmas eve apparently. that's what facebook tells me, and facebook never lies. then, we got to open one gift... our matching christmas jammies! i LOVE matching jammies. also, zac got everyone these super cool bracelets that are made out of really strong parachute cord that you could unravel and use in an emergency. and bob gave us our personalized christmas ornaments. beckett got a little shoe that says beckett and "odysseus". odysseus was bob's name suggestion for beckett when we were choosing a name. AND the boys got perplexus, which is like really hard labyrinth mazes inside a ball. it is quite addicting. then we watched the christmas story portrayed by adorable children in new zealand and called it a night! we were so excited to go to bed so we could wake up and have beckett's first christmas!!!

early christmas
before we came down to reno for christmas we had a little baby christmas with my dad and saige. also, we had latkes with dinner as a shout out to hannukah. it is the festival of lights, you know. my dad got b a little wind-up kangaroo that flipped over for christmas because word on the street is that i had a little wind-up monkey that flipped over that i thought was oh so funny. i actually remember the monkey, and i'll take my dad's word on the thinking it was funny part. anyways, beckett just knocked the kangaroo right over. i guess we have a different sense of humor. b also got some super hip levi's from my dad and a jean jacket from aunt saige. he is just a trendy guy. also, we got saige four gifts. misty told me about this idea and i saw it on pinterest too (pinterest was a serious problem for me this year... i tried making way too many gifts) and i plan to do it with all my kids at christmas. you get them... something they want, something they need, something to wear, and something to read. such a good idea, right? it can really keep your gift buying in check. i was a bad picture taker for our early christmas. i feel deep shame about it.

santa at the airport!
so, we took beckett to see a santa at the mall, but he totally freaked out (expected) and matt wouldn't let me pay $20 for a screaming baby santa picture. i did video tape it though, so that will probably get posted on here soon. anyways, at the airport, microsoft had a santa that you could get free pictures with and i wanted to try again... even if it was another screaming picture, but matt thought it was a bad idea and would have none of it. so i went over by myself and tried to take a picture with beckett and santa. beckett was seriously skeptical, but not screaming, so a step in the right direction. i wish matt was in the picture too, so it didn't look like i was married to santa, but oh well. thanks for the free picture, microsoft. their photo editing software is actually pretty cool. ho ho ho!
cookies from oma
we just got our christmas cookies from my oma. it takes her four days to bake all the cookies from scratch and they are so delicious. every year she says it's her last year making them, but so far she has kept the cookies coming. matt and saige and my dad all like her jelly cookies the best and dig through the cookie tin to get to them first. luckily, i like the butter cookies the best and have no fierce competition. my oma made a special nut free batch of butter cookies shaped like ducks for beckett. he loved them, of course. who wouldn't? a monster maybe. beckett also got some kinder chocolate, but only beckett because he is the only kinder these days. sad. (i still ate some of it, don't tell my oma.) it was very exciting to get to share oma's cookies with beckett. really, i probably need to learn to bake these things myself, but they would never turn out as good. i think they need a grandmother's touch. thanks for the cookies, oma! we loooove them.
