we had big plans for easter. our schedule was busy. step one was to wake up early and get ready and then play easter bunny before beckett got up. in my family growing up, we didn't get filled easter baskets. when we got up in the morning, we got an empty easter basket and everything was hidden, so you had to hunt for all your loot. i think that is a fun plan, so we are sticking with it. step two was to get beckett up, let him hunt and get him ready quicky quick. step three was go to church. three steps before 10am is kind of a big deal for our family. then i planned on going to the sigl girls' baptisms and to get some work done and then we were going to wrap up the day with an easter picnic at the park with the kreitlows. fun. it didn't happen. when we woke up beckett, he was not feeling well. we took him outside anyways, since i had hid everything... and he reluctantly picked up a few eggs and asked to go back inside. so sad. here are a bunch of pictures from the less than 10 minutes we spent outside. even more sad, this sickly behavior was just a foreshadowing of the sickie sickness that was about to strike and last all week long, and is still happening. the good news is, whether we got to celebrate it or not, jesus is still risen. so... phew for that!

easter bunny of terror
the day before easter we met up with quinn at country village to see the easter bunny. he was SO creepy looking. now, in his defense, i always think the easter bunny looks a little scary. i have no idea why somebody can't invent a not scary looking bunny head. rabbits are really the least scary looking thing in real life. this guy though... had no bunny head. just his real face painted and somehow this made it so much worse. i thought beckett would freak out for sure, but quinn was okay, so he was okay too. they didn't like it though. they did like feeding the ducks and riding the little carousel though. and they're cute, so it was all fine in the end.
egg dying
yay for dying eggs with your dad! i didn't take any pictures of the finished eggs. weird. they were nice. please ignore beckett's tanktop and batman tattoo. thanks.
goooood friday
we had good friday dinner over at the kreitlows and it was very lovely. matt made a crazy roasted vegetable medley... it had about a thousand different vegetables in it and was goooooood. we had lamb (not me personally because i feel conflicted about eating things that are babies) and chicken and other good stuff and ate outside and it was only a little freezing. we also did peep s'mores again (duh) and had communion around the fire and the kids ran around like maniacs and it was nice. then, we dyed easter eggs, but that's for a different post. thanks for having us over kreitlows and for being our friends.
