just keep swimming

beckett took swimming lessons again this summer at the kingsgate pool. the sessions were everyday for two weeks and beckett went through several different stages of fears, but triumphed eventually. while it took the entire summer, he can now go underwater (and not scream cry about it), push off the edge of the pool, and jump in off the side. we still have some back float and stroke work to do, but that is for next summer beckett to worry about! penelope did all the sessions too, but was in a more advanced class and quinn did most of them, but you wouldn't know it by my pictures! i brought my camera on the last day of class, but quinn was out of town... making him non existent in the photos. sorry, friend. i'll remember you were there, and he'll probably make an appearance on an iphone post. we tried to put heath in a class (that was supposed to be for two year olds) and he would have none of it. maybe next year when he really is a two year old. we're gonna keep on keepin' on and eventually this blog will be full of swim team posts! hopefully. 

little fishies

the pierces have some good friends, the diaz' (krista and rogelio) who live in a fancy apartment in seattle. you can see the space needle out their window... like frasier! anyways, rogelio is a really, super great swimmer and we decided to see if he could give beckett some swim lessons. beckett has started to develop a real fear of the water. it's not our favorite. i would love to get beckett on a swim team eventually, but we are light years from that... so baby steps. we also want to start getting heath familiar with the water, to avoid swimming beckett 2.0. so, here are a few pics from our first swimming try, mostly of heath. penelope came too and she is like a little fish in the water. i could barely snap a picture of her!

heath hits the pool

once heath hit two months, he was totally jonesin' for some nice pool time, and who were we to say no? really, we decided to take a little family trip to the crazy lynnwood pool for beckett and figured heath might like a dip too. he was pretty neutral about it. so... a few photo comments. in the first picture it looks like heath is relaxing against a pair of crossed legs. that is actually one leg and an arm... don't be alarmed. also, please notice the intensity that is matt's farmer tan. thanks.

just keep swimming

i signed beckett up for swimming lessons and had high hopes, but they were quickly dashed. after six weeks of lessons (five days a week!) he made little progress and actually mostly hated it. he would list off all the things he was not going to participate in while we drove to lessons. "i do NOT want to do bobs today. i do NOT want to do back floats. i do NOT want to blow bubbles." ha. delightful. and no amount of ice cream bribery could persuade him otherwise. so, after 3 sessions, we threw in the towel. it's fine... there is always next year. lots of friends cycled through the swimming lessons too. here are many pictures. really... it's a lot.
